Sunshine Dental Veneers

What is a Veneer?

A dental veneer is a wafer-thin, custom-made shell of tooth-coloured material that bonds to the surface of your natural teeth changing the shape, colour, size or length. Veneers can correct a number of dental issues including:
  • Discoloured teeth
  • Gaps
  • Overcrowded or narrow smiles
  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Misaligned teeth
There are two types of veneers – composite and porcelain. There are pro’s and cons for both types of veneers, so it is important to consider the result you are hoping to achieve, as well as your budget. Talking to our highly skilled dentist will help you choose the correct veneer for you.

Benefits of Treatment

These are made out of tooth coloured resin material and applied directly onto your teeth by the dentist in the surgery. They are a great cost-effective solution for repairing and improving the appearance of your teeth.
These are individually crafted in a dental laboratory out of porcelain. Impressions are taken of your teeth, so that the veneers can be made from the mold. This process can take from 1 – 3 weeks to complete and you may be fitted with temporary veneers while you wait. When ready the dentist will cement the thin porcelain shells to the front of your teeth.

Unlike crowns and bridges, veneers offer a gentler approach to altering a tooth’s shape or colour as they are minimally invasive.

Veneers generally last between five and fifteen years depending on the type fitted and as long as they have been looked after.
